Vinous Nicolas Greinacher - 01 Nov 25
The 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis kicks off with fragrant licorice, dried red fruits, crushed flowers and tobacco notes. Markedly concentrated, the full-throttle 2017 is framed by firm tannins. Were it not for the slight trace of heat on the powerful and persistent finish, I’d score it a little higher.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a prestigious appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley, is famous for its rich, complex red wines. These full-bodied wines primarily feature Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, with bold flavours of dark fruit, spices, and earthy undertones, often with a peppery note and velvety texture. The region's unique terroir, marked by large round stones and diverse soils, adds depth to its wines. Top producers include Domaine du Pegau, Château de Beaucastel, and Domaine Janasse, all celebrated for showcasing Châteauneuf-du-Pape's distinctive character.
